Counting Pentecost ~ Day Nineteen ~ Psalm 67

Update April 26th 2018

Today is the 5th day of the 3rd week of seven weeks. Today is the 19th day of the counting of fifty days from the day of the waving of the Omer on the morrow after the Sabbath.

It is Jewish tradition to read and/or recite Psalm 67 everyday of the counting. The Psalm begins with the priestly benediction from Numbers 6:24-27. I noted a similarity between it and the Lord’s Prayer. Another prayer similar to Psalm 67 and the Lord’s Prayer is the Prayer of Jabez ~

And Jabez called to the God of Israel, saying, If indeed You would bless me, and make my border larger, and Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil so that it may not grieve me! And God gave him what he asked. 1Chronicles 4:10

Update April 23rd 2015

Today is two weeks and five days of the Omer.

I will bless Jehovah at all times: His praise shall continually be in lordprayermy mouth. Psalm 34:1

Bless Jehovah, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless his holy name. Psalm 103:1

Bless Jehovah, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits: Psalm 103:2

Bless Jehovah, all ye his works, In all places of his dominion: Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Psalm 103:22

Bless Jehovah, O my soul. O Jehovah my God, thou art very great; Thou art clothed with honor and majesty: Psalm 104:1

Let sinners be consumed out of the earth. And let the wicked be no more. Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Praise ye Jehovah. Psalm 104:35

But we will bless Jehovah From this time forth and for evermore. Praise ye Jehovah. Psalm 115:18

My mouth shall speak the praise of Jehovah; And let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever. Psalm 145:21

Stand up and bless Jehovah your God from everlasting to everlasting; and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise. Nehemiah 9:5

And every created thing which is in the heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all things are in them, heard I saying, Unto him that sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb, be the blessing, and the honor, and the glory, and the dominion, for ever and ever. Revelation 5:13

On our day seventeen post we noticed a similarity in Psalm 67 with the “Lord’s Prayer”? We don’t really know what traditions Jesus was raised with, we are given only a few glimpses, Luke 2:39; Luke 4:16, to name a couple. Mary and Joseph were chosen by God to raise the Son of God, so I’m thinking they were obedient. I think it is fair to say that since He came to fulfill the law, I’m sure He knew the Scriptures inside and out. He always says, “it is written”. He always quoted the law, prophets and the psalms..

Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.  ‘Give us this day our daily bread.
‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Matthew 6:9-13

God be gracious to us and bless us, And cause His face to shine upon us– Selah.
That Your way may be known on the earth, Your salvation among all nations.
Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You.
Let the nations be glad and sing for joy; For You will judge the peoples with uprightness And guide the nations on the earth. Selah.
Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You.
The earth has yielded its produce; God, our God, blesses us.
God blesses us, That all the ends of the earth may fear Him. Psalm 67

Have you ever wondered what “Hallowed” means?
Easton Definition: Hallow
To render sacred, to consecrate Exodus 28:38; Exodus 29:1. This word is from the Saxon, and properly means “to make holy.” The name of God is “hallowed”, i.e., is reverenced as holy Matthew 6:9.

What similarities do you see?
