God always provides exactly what is needed at the right time…”self-pity takes God off the throne and puts our sef-interests above Him.”
Woah…that’s a gut check.

What’s new…well, feel like I’ve been out of the word for so long with school and life. No excuses though. Life just seems off when I don’t have my armor on; like I’m being attacked by my thoughts.
-
I know that feeling! Now isn’t this remarkable…yesterday morning we were driving at 5:30 and one of the Christian stations was airing a sermon by Charles Stanley. He was focusing on how the Enemy attacks us, Ephesians 6:10-24! The one “tip” I picked up on was to pray specifically, he gave some really good examples. It’s funny I haven’t listened…[Read more]

Something else was clarified to me yesterday too. In regards to all the Laws of the Old Testament. Randy mentioned them being broken down into 3 categories. I found those: ceremonial, civil and moral. Ceremonial: Primary purpose to point forward to Jesus; therefore no longer necessary after death and resurrection (good thing – didn’t feel like…[Read more]

I keep thinking that Lei already commented here. It is awesome that you are finding these things, I would be curious to read that article you found with the 3 groups of laws, I feel like I have seen them broken down even further but I can never find it again, like the dietary laws don’t seem to fit into those 3 groups??
These verses jumped out…[Read more]

I believe the dietary fell into the Civil section.

I have realized that God was setting up a Theocracy and that a whole bunch of the law is civil, which is not to say that they aren’t still good guidelines for a better life while on this world.
I have spent time in this rabbit hole in the past year, and more this morning :)
I found the list of Jewish laws that were broken down more, but the guy…[Read more]

Yes, the bombardment is exhausting. Where is the line between sheltering and protecting?
These letters look interesting though, I so wish I was more of a reader. I suppose it could be something you could train […] -

Don’t know if I have an absolute favorite. I find myself saying this one the most: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13

A thought popped in my head yesterday. Since I am way new to studying, I still have “questions”. This time, its in regards to what is and what is not applicable from the Bible in today’s age? Seems to me, every time we quote the Bible we are taking it out of context. The Epistles were written to a specific group of people: Romans, Hebrews, etc -…[Read more]

Hmmmm. My first thought is “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man (and/or woman) of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” This is a really great question…I will be thinking on it today! Have a blessed day!

Where is that quote from? I also found this in Hebrews 4:12 12 For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. But…Hebrews was written for the Jewish Christians. How…[Read more]

That is 2 Tim 3:16,17. I was also seeing in Isaiah how applicable the Bible is for us today. In chapter 2 he (Isaiah) keeps referring to the nations…that would include us today. So I’m gonna do a search on when and where God is talking about the nations. I believe he starts in Gen and goes on through all the OT and then Jesus picks up the same…[Read more]

Boy, I sure agree that the Bible is taken out of context a lot, I sometimes wonder if modern man didn’t add the chapter and verse designations just to make it easier to take a sentence out of context.
I guess I feel that the Bible is a study on the nature of man, I think among intellectuals there is a debate nowadays about exactly what is i…[Read more]

It’s awesome to me that the more you read and study, the truth makes itself known. For whatever reason, this discussion was clarified to me last night. Maybe I’m just slow and dense. To me, the Gospels are definitely applicable to today since they are the words of Jesus. All of Paul’s letters to different churches and groups of people were not…[Read more]

Wow, we were doing our reading this morning and in my head I was nodding and thinking oh man God is talking about today, there is no question about it.
Then about halfway through this chapter I thought of this conversation on GodStuff. This seems to be an awesome chapter to show how applicable the Bible is to today, I’m positive that “today” is…[Read more]

Interesting article. As Christians, I guess we should stop “vomiting” on non-believers and turning them away.
