Where and when did this debate begin?
And, is it even the question we should be asking? Is the Law and Grace really in opposition to each other? Or, do we need both? Why do I need grace if there is no Law? If there is no Law what am I sinning against?
If the Law is Null and Void–What sin am I Repenting for?
If the Law was abolished, the need for sacrifice is done away with. If there is no Law, then there is nothing we’ve transgressed against to require a sacrifice. So then, that would mean Jesus gave up His existence as God, laying aside His privileges, taking on the form of a bond-servant…humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross, dying in vain, for a sacrifice that was no longer required.
But thanks be to God!
Because He did come, suffer, die and rise again, becoming our High Priest, replacing the old priesthood—His sacrifice satisfies the Law’s sacrificial requirement on our behalf.
If the Law was nailed to the Cross, I have no sin to repent of, and NO need for a Saviour – R. Cummings
