I was listening to Michael Savage the other day…I know, but he can be entertaining sometimes. He said something that go me to thinking…
He related that when he was a young man he went to a palm reader. When he went to the palm reader he didn’t believe that they had any special powers to foretell the future, he just did it as a fun thing to do. But, after his palm reading, he spent several years in South American countries and while there he witnessed many evidences of healings, curses and such things not easily explained by the rules of an educated and enlightened world.
He went on to say that he doesn’t think people in North America believe that there is a spiritual realm. I think he’s right about that. For the most part North American Christians are completely ambivalent to the spiritual realm. If they do believe in powers and principalities it is at an intellectual and superficial level, thinking that the idea of being able to contact spirits, or that they could or would contact us, is of the superstitious past, believing we are now too sophisticated and intellectually advanced to be bothered by ghosts! Today we have psycho-analysis to rid us of the voices we hear talking in our heads.
I’ve been seeing more articles saying that demonic attacks in the United States is on the rise. I believe that is because we treat spiritualism with indifference or think it is just a game. How many people read their horoscopes? daily? Saying it means nothing, or it’s just for fun. Have you noticed how many Palm Reading shops there are? We have an online Psychic Network, police are using psychics more and more. It is obvious that the occult religions are gaining more and more acceptance in our culturally correct society. Most people think that spirits, demons and the like have no power, but the Scriptures clearly say otherwise: John 12:31; Acts 26:18; Eph 2:2; Eph 6:12; 2 Cor 4:4; Rev 12:9—to name just a few.
“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. Deu 18:10, 11
The reason God said not to go to seers was not because they didn’t have any power–He tells us plainly in the Ten Commandment — “You shall have no other gods before Me […] for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. Exo 20:3-6 We need to trust our Heavenly Father regarding the timing of all our affairs, His timing is always perfect.
