I’ve discovered a couple new authors. One is Robert Van Kampen, he only wrote 3 published works, all on prophecy, I’m finishing his novel and waiting for “The Sign”. I’m looking forward to sharing his ideas in the Revelation study we’re trying to set a fire under.
Abraham Joshua Heschel is the other author. I’ve just started his “The Sabbath”. Here is a quote from the first paragraph of the prologue.
“Technical civilization is man’s conquest of space. It is a triumph frequently achieved by sacrificing an essential ingredient of existence, namely, time. In technical civilization, we expend time to gain space. To enhance our power in the world of space is our main objective. Yet to have more does not mean to be more. The power we attain in the world of space terminates abruptly at the borderline of time. But time is the heart of existence.” It only gets better from there. So far I haven’t been able to find any of his other books on Paperback Swap…I’m still looking for them at good prices though.

update 2020
Well I read all 3 of Van Kampen’s books. The novel was “The Fourth Reich”, then I read “The Sign” and finally, “The Rapture Question Answered”. As far as his end times views they are one man’s search for truth through extensive study. There is no way for me to “share” all that is postulated in his books. I can say they are well worth the read.
As for Heschel’s book “The Sabbath” I’ve only read it twice. That for me is exceptional, in that I never re-read books! There are way too many books to read. I do of course re-read the Bible, but that doesn’t count. “The Sabbath” is a beautiful description of how wonderfully joyful the Sabbath is and what a great gift God has given to us. If you are contemplating whether or not to keep the Sabbath, start with this book! I also discovered writing this, that I still have not read any of Heschel’s other books, which I will try to remedy in the near future.
