Can’t We All Just Get Along?

I read a blog post recently that got me thinking of this catchy little logo–

Take a look at some of the big names that have signed up to be a part of this movement. These leaders represent millions of followers in the United States.

  • Rev. Dr. Robert Schuller, Founder, Crystal Cathedral and Hour of Power
  • Brian D. McLaren, Pastor, Author, Speaker, Activist
  • Rick Warren, Founder and Senior Pastor, Saddleback Church, and The Purpose Driven Life
  • Rev. Dr. Christian Scharen, Director, Faith as a Way of Life Program, Yale Center for Faith & Culture
  • Kathleen E. McVey, Professor of Early and Eastern Church History, Princeton Theological Seminar

I don’t know about you, but every time I see this logo it reminds me of Rodney King’s famous last words, “Can’t we all just get along?” I believe the simple answer is, NO. Jehovah tells us He is a jealous God and He will not tolerate anyone that puts anything or anyone before Him–

“You shall have no other gods before Me. “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. “You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
(Exodus 20:3-6)

The Old Testament is full stories of what happens to God’s people when they put other gods before Him. The Father cherishes our relationship with Him. He is jealous for us, He covets us, and He will not share us with any other. We are so precious to Him, He sent His Son to show us how to live. We’ve all heard Jesus lived a sinless life. What does that mean? To the Father, sin is law-lessness. 1 John 3:4

Jesus said, “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.” John 15:10 “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Matthew 7:14,21

The words, law and commandments are translated from the Hebrew words Torah and Mitsvah. Being defined as; the  direction, instruction, teachings, a command, commandments (collectively the Law/Torah), given by God to those who wish to follow Him.

Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
(John 14:6) I don’t see a variety of ways to God, in that statement. Yet many well meaning mainstream Christians are being lead to believe that the Coexist, Chrislam, Shared Faith and other like movements, is what God wants from us. Christians are being bullied into thinking that we are “haters” because we believe Jesus when He said, “…the way is narrow that leads to life…” We are not loving our neighbor when we let them believe a lie. There are no Co-gods—only the One true God—Jehovah!

All the religions represented in this logo are the same ones God has been warning us against since He called us to be His chosen people, it is the same call, “…come out from among them…” 2 Corinthians 6:17

Revision ~ January 29, 2016

I have revised the ending of this post, because a reader came to a conclusion that I never would intend. It was a mis-statement on my part in the original ending.

I do NOT believe that all the religions represented in this logo are the same. They do NOT all pray to and/or worship the one true God – Jehovah. We have in the wisdom of King Solomon these thoughts to ponder.

“There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12 He also said,” That which has been is that which will be, And that which has been done is that which will be done. So there is nothing new under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9

I also believe that God gives us the choice. We can choose Him and in doing so we choose life, it stands to reason to choose otherwise is to choose death. I stand with Joshua–I serve Jehovah!

“If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve Jehovah.” Joshua 24:15

Finally God says ~

“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, Deuteronomy 30:19

In case you failed to notice, you just said that the three religions following “Jehovah, the one true God” are religions that he is telling you to avoid as all three are represented in the COEXIST sign. Therefore, you have, yourself, told all of your readers to completely disregard what you’re saying as The one true God is saying his own teachings are irrelevant. Also, God said that to love thy neighbor as thyself is one of the 2 only important rules he set out, so why would you torment, berate, abuse, belittle, torture and kill someone that doesn’t believe the same as you, it truly sounds unchristian to me.

Oh Wow! I did “fail to notice” the all religions! Thank you so much for pointing that out, that of course was not my intention. I have edited the post to reflect the change.
