Why is it that in most of my earthly battles, I seem doomed for defeat? I often feel ill-equipped to “bring the heat” when I’m faced with fierce opposition whether it’s in every day situations or when I’m doing ministry. Most often, I leave the battlefield of life, limping away seeking refuge while I heal or worse yet, I run away with my tail between my legs. Fear too often, holds me captive and keeps me from standing boldly before the enemy with a confidence that knows the victory has already been won. Why? Well when I trust in myself and try to control things, it’s like bringing a BB-Gun to a shoot-out at the OK Corral. My BB-Gun is no match for the enemy’s fiery darts. Only the armor of the Most High can effectively extinguish those darts. “Bringing the heat” with the Sword of the Spirit and the Shield of Faith creates an external barrier of protection against the fiery opposition of the enemy. Then when I put on the Helmet of Salvation, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Griddle of Truth and the Sandals of Peace I have the confidence to stand without fear IN the Lord so that my internal battles are victorious as well. So, fellow soldier for Christ, make sure you’re packing the right weaponry for your next encounter with the enemy. It’s time to send him running for cover!!!
